The 2021 monthly ‘PlatForum’ sessions at Dagun Station  run from 3.30 to 5 pm  on the 3rd Saturday (different to 2020) afternoon of each month – open air on the platform of Dagun Railway Station.  This overlaps with the co-ops weekly fresh produce stall and the Dagun Community Group’s Saturday afternoon wine bar.

March’s topic was automatically chosen by the confirmed establishment of Fall Armyworm in the Mary Valley.  This newly arrived caterpillar pest has caused quite a stir around the globe over the last few years, and we growers in the Mary Valley have joined the ranks of subtropical farmers around the globe who need to deal with it in our gardens & orchards.

Luckily, there is a wealth of technical information available for dealing with it, including methods suitable for small scale organic gardens and orchards.  We hope to have a lot of that information available and some hands-on experience in identifying the beastie at the forum.  We strongly suggest that commercial growers register for and attend the Growcom PestAware Gympie district session  on Wednesday 17th March.

Please print an A4 flier for our PlatForum and put it somewhere where you think it may be of interest to others : MarchPlatForum
