Phil Stringer shares some useful notes about subtropical gardening and pigs

Phil Stringer has kindly offered to show us round his pastured pig enterprise and subtropical fodder gardens.  He  runs an email-based business, “Tamworth Flyers” supplying pork directly to customers on a mailing list.  He is also a very experienced gardener,  grizzled bush regenerator and general ‘foodie’  with decades of experience in permaculture design. He is generous in sharing his insights gained from experimenting with  simple innovative ways of approaching the business of growing food.

The farm walk is at 1229 Noosa Rd Tandur, and the driveway is almost opposite Parkyn Rd.  Please use common sense and follow any signs that may be on the property on the day when it comes to choosing where to park.     Please let us know by email to maryvalleycountryharvest@gmail.com if you intend coming.  (This helps us  plan parking, and lets us know who to contact  if there are any last-minute changes of plan.)

As usual, we invite you to bring a snack to share at the conclusion of the session.  Tea, coffee and cold water will be provided. We ask that each attendee puts a gold coin donation in the tin for the farmer.  These Sunday afternoon chats are designed to help people meet each other and swap useful ideas and information.

Adam Jones demonstrating how to build a small-scale biochar cooker.

The March farm walk at Adam Jones property, with a focus on biochar production and use was very well attended, and sparked lots of lively conversation.  There were many people there sharing their experience and techniques at all scales of production from the very large (bulldozer/excavator scale) to the very small (campfire scale).
