During the recent heavy rain that ended the record-breaking hot and dry 2013/2014 summer, Steve Burgess filmed the effect of a few different deep ripping techniques on increasing water infiltration and reducing soil loss. The lessons learnt may be useful to other people setting up new garden areas on their farms. Ripping parallel with the keyline (as described by Yeomans) was the clear winner.
